Tim Wendelboe
Oslo, Norway
The read// why locals go
Tim Wendelboe roasts and brews on Grüners gate, in a small Grünerløkka space that did more than any other to put Oslo on the specialty coffee map. Roastery and bar occupy the same room: beans roasted light enough that the origin does most of the talking, brewed with precision, and served by people who can account for every step if you want to hear it. Food is deliberately minimal — this is not a café angling for your lunch order. Grüners gate is residential, and the weekday morning queue is mostly people who live within a few streets. For anyone who takes coffee seriously, it is not an optional stop in this city.
