Terms of use

Last updated 26 August 2026

These terms cover your use of Find My Bite. We've tried to write them in plain language rather than legalese — if anything here is unclear, email us at hello@findmybite.com and we'll explain. How we handle your personal data is covered separately in our privacy statement.

What Find My Bite is

Find My Bite is a free, map-first guide to independent neighbourhood restaurants. We are a directory: we describe places and link out to them. We are not a booking service, we don't take payments, we don't deliver food, and we are not a party to anything that happens between you and a restaurant. When you follow a link to book a table or view a menu, you leave our site and the other party's terms apply.

Accounts

You can browse almost all of Find My Bite without an account. You need one to save favourites, vote, or comment. When you create an account:

  • You must be at least 16, or have permission from a parent or guardian.
  • Give an email address you actually control, and keep your password to yourself.
  • One person, one account. Don't impersonate someone else or sign up on their behalf.
  • You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. It is immediate and permanent.

What you post

Comments, reviews and photos you add are yours — you keep the rights to them. By posting, you give us permission to display and distribute that content on Find My Bite for as long as you choose to leave it up. Delete it (or your account) and that permission ends, though copies may linger briefly in backups and caches.

You're responsible for what you post, and you confirm you have the right to post it. Restaurant owners uploading photos accept a separate photo-rights agreement at upload time (current version 2026-07-27), confirming they own or are licensed to use those images.

Things you may not do

Don't use Find My Bite to post or do any of the following:

  • Anything unlawful, hateful, harassing, threatening, or discriminatory.
  • Content that infringes someone's copyright, trade mark or privacy.
  • Fake or paid-for reviews — including reviewing your own restaurant, a competitor's, or posting on someone else's behalf in exchange for anything. Owners of a claimed restaurant cannot vote at all, and can only comment on their own listing.
  • Spam, advertising, or bulk promotional content.
  • Personal data about other people, or anything defamatory about identifiable staff.
  • Automated scraping, bulk downloading, or hammering our servers. The restaurant dataset is ours to publish, not yours to copy wholesale.
  • Attempts to break, probe or work around the site's security or access controls.

How we moderate

We'd rather host a small, honest set of opinions than a large, noisy one. If content breaks the rules above, we may hide it, delete it, or suspend or remove the account behind it.

Decisions to hide or remove a comment or review are made by a person, not an automated filter — we don't run algorithmic moderation over what you post. (Separately, which restaurants get listed in the first place is decided by a mix of automated research tools and human review, but that's about our own editorial content, not yours.)

If we remove or hide something you posted, we'll tell you why at the email address on your account, unless we're legally prevented from doing so. If you think we got it wrong, reply to that message — a human will look again. We handle these ourselves; there is no automated appeal to exhaust first.

Reporting content

If you see something on Find My Bite that you believe is illegal or breaks these rules, tell us at hello@findmybite.com. Anyone can report — you don't need an account. To help us act quickly, include:

  • A link to the page, and enough detail to find the exact comment, review or photo.
  • What's wrong with it, and why you believe it's illegal or against these rules.
  • Your name and email, so we can confirm the outcome (not needed for reports about child sexual abuse material or other serious offences).

We'll confirm we received your report, review it, and let you know what we decided and why. We aim to deal with reports promptly and, where content is clearly illegal, immediately. If you're the person who posted the content, the appeal route in the section above applies.

Restaurant listings and owners

We list restaurants we think are worth knowing about. A listing is our editorial opinion, not a paid placement, and restaurants can't buy their way onto the map.

If you own or manage a restaurant you can claim its listing. Once we approve your claim you can edit your address, photos, menu link and opening hours, and those edits publish straight away — so please keep them accurate. We may still correct, hide or remove a listing, including a claimed one, if it's wrong, misleading, or the restaurant has closed. If you'd like your restaurant removed from Find My Bite entirely, email us and we'll take it down.

Accuracy — please double-check before you go

Restaurant details come from a mix of our own research, public sources and the owners themselves. Opening hours change, kitchens close early, places move and shut down. We work hard to keep the map current, but we can't promise any listing is accurate or up to date. For anything that matters — a dietary requirement, an allergy, a special occasion, a long trip across town — check directly with the restaurant first. Spotted something wrong? Tell us and we'll fix it.

Our content and other people's

The Find My Bite name, design, written descriptions and the compiled directory are ours. You're welcome to link to us and to share pages. You may not copy the dataset in bulk or republish our descriptions as your own. Map data comes from OpenStreetMap contributors; some photos come from third-party sources and are credited where they appear.

What we promise, and what we don't

Find My Bite is free and provided as-is. We don't guarantee it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change or discontinue features. To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for losses arising from your use of the site, from relying on a listing, or from your dealings with a restaurant.

Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for your statutory rights as a consumer, which these terms leave untouched.

Ending things

You can stop using Find My Bite whenever you like and delete your account from your account settings. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms — we'll tell you why, and you can appeal by replying to us.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands. If you're a consumer, this doesn't deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the country you live in, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. When we do, we'll change the "last updated" date above, and for material changes we'll make it clear on the site. Continuing to use Find My Bite after a change means you accept the updated terms.
