De Gouverneur is a Maastricht brewery and pub on De Ruiterij, with a terrace directly on the Maas. The beer is brewed on site and poured a few metres from where it is made, which is the whole proposition; the kitchen keeps to generous Dutch bar food built to go with it, at around €14. The terrace is the draw in summer — it sits on the Wyck bank looking back across the water at the old town, one of the better riverside positions in the country. Inside, it stays a working brewpub rather than a showroom.
