Corner store is an Asian-fusion kitchen and wine bar on Papaverweg, in the post-industrial half of Amsterdam-Noord. The cooking draws across Asia, but the room is built around two other obsessions: a wine list assembled grower by grower, running deep into small European producers rather than familiar labels, and a hi-fi system — Technics, Tannoy — that gives the place its own soundtrack. Dinner is the main event, and drinks carry on well past it. Less a restaurant with a wine list than a listening room that happens to cook seriously.
