The read// why locals go

Chez Bejgueni is a Marrakech street food stall on Jemaa el-Fna, working the square after dark like the dozens around it. Jemaa el-Fna changes character completely in the evening, when the food carts roll into the middle of the square and the whole thing becomes an open-air kitchen under smoke and strip lights. Eating here means standing at a counter, ordering by pointing, and paying in small notes, with 40 dirhams a generous evening. It is the cheapest and most atmospheric way to eat in Marrakech, and the least private: you share a bench with whoever arrives next.

Good to know

PriceTypical main course around MAD 40, ordered à la carte.
