Palia
Bremen, Germany
The read// why locals go
Palia is a small breakfast café on Am Schwarzen Meer, built by Lia and Pavo around what they call a clear, reduced concept: specialty coffee, breakfast and cake, and not much else. That restraint is the point. The kitchen works as regionally, organically, fair-trade and plant-based as it can manage, everything is made in house, and breakfast is a proper sit-down affair rather than a pastry grabbed at a counter — tables can be reserved for it. There is a garden in the warmer months, dogs are welcome, and plates stay around 10 euros. A single independent address in Bremen's Peterswerder, run by the two people whose names are on it.
