Crabshakk
Glasgow, United Kingdom
The read// why locals go
Crabshakk is a tiny Scottish seafood counter on Argyle Street in Glasgow's Finnieston — west coast shellfish, a handful of seats, no interest in growing. Scotland lands some of the best shellfish in Europe and exports most of it; the whole argument of a place like this is that a decent share ought to be eaten where it comes ashore. Oysters, crab, langoustines and whatever the boats sent that day are handled simply, because at this quality that is the correct treatment, and a plate runs around £26. The room is narrow, loud and organised around the counter, so large groups are out and waiting is normal. One of the reasons Finnieston became the city's food street.
