Bodega Manolo
Barcelona, Spain
The read// why locals go
A bodega in the old sense: barrels along the wall, wine poured by the glass straight from them, and a short list of Catalan things to eat alongside — pa amb tomàquet, anchovies, cheese, conserves. Bodega Manolo has held its corner of Torrent de l'Olla in Gràcia since the 1970s, and a good part of the custom has come with it. Meat-free plates make up much of the tapas list, so it works for vegetarians as readily as for anyone after a glass of house red. Around €15 buys a proper graze. Gràcia is full of bars; this one predates the fashion.
