The read// why locals go

Cervejaria Ramiro is Lisbon's definitive seafood beerhouse — giant tiger prawns, percebes, clams and crab, with cold Sagres to wash them down. The format is simple: order shellfish by weight, drink beer, use your hands. Percebes — goose barnacles — are the local delicacy worth the effort of working out how to eat them. Mains work out around €28, fair for the quality of what arrives at the table. It is loud, brightly lit and permanently full, with a queue that moves faster than it looks. Nobody comes here for the atmosphere in any conventional sense, and nobody leaves disappointed.
