The read// why locals go

Brasserie De Oostpoort takes its name from Delft's Oostpoort, the only medieval city gate the town still has, and works the brasserie format on the Westvest canal near the station side of the centre. Dutch brasserie cooking is a specific and unglamorous tradition — braised beef, croquettes, plates built for beer rather than wine — and it is done here at around €17 for a main, which is midweek-dinner money in Delft. The Westvest is a quieter stretch of water than the tourist canals a few streets east, which is generally the point of eating on it. A dependable, unshowy address rather than an occasion.

Good to know

PriceTypical main course around €17, ordered à la carte.
