The read// why locals go

Godjo cooks Ethiopian and Eritrean food on Rue de l'École Polytechnique, a quiet street in Paris's Latin Quarter. The kitchen runs the classics properly: kitfo, the spiced steak tartare finished with seasoned butter; doro wot, chicken cooked slowly in a deep red sauce; shekla shiro, a chickpea stew brought to the table still sizzling in its clay pot. Injera does the work of both plate and cutlery. Vegetarians are unusually well served here, with split pea ater kik, red lentil miser wot, and a dedicated vegetarian platter that puts several stews on one round of injera at once. The welcome is as much of the draw as the cooking.
